Goldwater Scoops Awards
December 4, 2007
Outstanding results for Goldwater wines, scooping 3 Elite Gold medals
at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards
Goldwater Estate continued to impress with it’s Sauvignon Blanc at the
prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
Gold medals were awarded to the Boatshed Bay by Goldwater
Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Goldwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007
and the Goldwater Chardonnay 2006. Only five or six wines in every
hundred earn a gold medal, which in itself is a wonderful achievement.
It was announced last week at the Gala Event that all three gold
medal winning wines then went on to receive ‘Elite’ Gold Medals. Only
around one in every hundred wines might earn this award making this
an amazing achievement. The Elite Gold Medal wines must score
between 19-20 out of 20.
These medals reinforce a recent run of accolades received by
Goldwater Wines, the Goldwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006
receiving 91 points from the International Wine Cellar magazine and
93 points in the Wine Orbit review. Boatshed Bay by Goldwater
Sauvignon Blanc 2007 and the Goldwater Chardonnay 2006 also
received Gold Medals at The New Zealand International Wine Awards.
Other Goldwater Wines that have been in the spotlight include the
Goldwater Waiheke Island Zell Chardonnay 2005 received a silver at
the recent Liquorland Top 100 Wines along with 4.5 stars from Michael
Cooper.
The Goldwater and Boatshed Bay Sauvignon Blanc have stood out in
many of the wine competitions over 2007. These wines are produced
from Goldwater’s contracted vineyards in Marlborough, and have
consistently been rated as some of the finest New Zealand Sauvignons.
All the winning wines will be available for purchase from fine wine
shops, restaurants and at the Vineyard Tasting Room.
