Winemakers Notes

A very good season producing optimum ripeness. Each varietal component cropped well with the grapes being hand picked in perfect condition. Enjoying the fruit on the vine was a pleasure in itself! The grapes were picked in ideal condition and at optimum ripeness to make a rich, balanced wine with elegant structure.

Hand picked and fermented in stainless steel, then blended and aged in French oak barriques, 50% new for 18 months. The wine was made in small parcels allowing the individual characteristics of each clone and vineyard block to be retained, these blocks and varieties were then blended to make a finished wine of 50 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 38 % Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

Complex aromas of red berry fruit. Blackberry and red currant predominate over a toasty oak background. Rich, ripe and concentrated with excellent balance and palate weight. Tannins are abundant but fine, supple and silky ensuring a splendid mouth feel and long satisfying finish.

Soft enough to drink now but best 2007 - 2012
